Peering out of the box - 28/8/13.

Free Northerner - Marketing Marriage.
McDonald’s doesn’t sell cheeseburgers by having a fat, ugly man eat them in his dingy basement while playing WoW and sobbing to himself. They sell cheeseburgers by showing groups of realistically attractive people having fun together while eating cheeseburgers.
Patriactionary - The reactionary cancer smothering the liberal heart of New York.
Holy crap! They actually got the liberal city of New York, for a while, to enforce a rule that women had to sit at the back of the bus: segregation. Again, not something you’d see in a restored patriarchal Christian society, but amazing that this happened recently in the capital of liberal America. Why do the ultra-orthodox have such influence?
Jim - Words and meanings.
The word “racism” illustrates this. The ostensive meaning, what it is actually used to mean, is an insult term for white, like “cracker” or “honky”. The nominal ostensive meaning is KKK Hitler slavery. The nominal meaning, what people claim they mean by it, what dictionaries say they mean by it … is incoherent, incomprehensible, and differs from one source to the next, because no one really cares or pays any attention.

The lie implicit in the word “racism” is therefore that all whites are guilty by original sin of KKK Hitler slavery, that blacks suffer because whites exist, that merely by continuing to breath, whites harm blacks. For example, by thinking evil thoughts about blacks, whites cause blacks to underperform, (stereotype threat) and devastate black run cities such as Detroit. The logical implication of the word “racism” is that non whites need to eradicate whites, because evil white magic is causing non whites magical harm.
Anarcho-Papist - Masculine and feminine modes of discourse.
First, I should like to point out that the difference between the modes is not one of absolute superiority. The two modes are better suited to different sorts of tasks. The masculine mode is better suited to abstractive forms of thought, such as logic, philosophy, and science. The feminine mode is better suited to subjective forms of thought, such as emotions and the appearances of personal relationships. I’ll note that the two modes do have important contributions to the other aspects.

[...]

Given the foregoing, I might propose a revision of my post about why women won’t make it in the Manosphere. That revision is not that women may serve a unique place in the Manosphere, but rather that there is room for the development of feminine rhetoric based in red pill knowledge. The interests and modes of discourse of men and women are at a contrast, leading to little opportunity for women to take on the kinds and means of discussions men usually have within the Manosphere; however, there may be a sidelong Womanosphere, which I imagine will more typically jive with that contingent of the Manosphere which not only recognizes the disadvantages feminism imposes on society, but also seeks reasons and means of overcoming feminism.

[...]

As Manosphere writers, women might be typically overrated, but as Womanosphere writers, there is room for a lot of subjective insight.
The Reactivity Place - Christians did not build the Cathedral, but...
It is true that orthodox Christians did not build the Cathedral, but heretical Christians did, and they used Christian bricks.

Christianity is the most adaptively successful memeplex in human history. It has always, and likely for this reason, been a fertile breeding ground for potentially virulent competing near neighbors.
Le Cygne Gris - Full circle on testing.
I do wonder, though, how long it takes some enterprising students to figure out a way to skip college and take the CLA.  Then I wonder how long it will take for everyone to realize that the CLA exam is probably a waste of time, and that good old-fashioned SAT scores work just fine.  Then I wonder how much longer it’s going to take for the education bubble to pop once everyone realizes that college is a clusterfuck, and a poor substitute for IQ scores as a means of demonstrating intelligence.  Honestly, I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
Elusive Wapiti - Say no to crack.
While the commander claims he issued this decree partly for health reasons, it is more transparently an attempt to re-establish standards and enforce decorum in the midst of an anything goes libertine popular culture that sees little value in self respect or, failing that, respecting others enough to not wear your pants so low your underpants hang out.

[...]

Yah, the part about "health reasons" strikes me as pretty flimsy.

All this just goes to show the futility of legislating morality...or respect for others. If it's not internalized, good luck enforcing it short of an absolute police state. And who wants to live in one of those?
"Guide the people by law, subdue them by punishment; they may shun crime, but will be void of shame. Guide them by example, subdue them by courtesy; they will learn shame, and come to be good." - Confucius

Theden - The regime that offends our sense of basic humanity.

It is nonetheless difficult to come up with a moral doctrine under which the chemical killing of 355 people is unacceptable and the chemical killing of somewhere between ‘fewer than 500′ and 50,000 civilians is perfectly fine—not to mention aiding in the chemical slaughter of many thousands.

Peering out of the Box - 23/8/13.

Vox Popoli - Publishing bias and the new vertical markets
And, in like manner, left-wing writers should learn to accept that right-leaning publishers will not work with them and an increasing number of right-leaning consumers will not read their works. The age of the uniform mass market and its ideological impartiality is over and the age of ideologically-based vertical markets is upon us. The sooner everyone on the right side of the ideological aisle embraces that fact and begins to act accordingly, the sooner we will be able to stop swimming in the moral filth, breathing in the philosophical effluvia, and wandering aimlessly throughout the creative wasteland of the Left.

Larry, I have no doubt, will disagree with my opinion. So will a number of other writers on the Right. And that's fine, as we can disagree about this and debate this without feeling any need to excommunicate each other or rigidly enforce a dogmatic consensus because we are not rabbits of the Left.

Amos and Gromar - A sense of fatalism: the beauty and violence of systems
It’s good that lower class white interbreed with sub-civilizational races and ethnicities because it expunges that lower bell curve segment of the white population, which can only serve to increase the good attributes of the average on the white curve. Given this fact, I’m not about to cry over the so-called extinction of the white race due to miscegenation.

It’s good that feminists embrace degenerate lifestyles, such as fat-acceptance, for several reasons. First, being grossly overweight and fucking fat signals to the sexual market not to date them. Second, being grossly overweight results in pain, misery, and an early death. If feminists were thin, neat, and well-behaved, it’d decimate the flock instantaneously and overnight–the wolf in sheep’s clothing. But it’s good that they aren’t, because even if they were, that sort of behavior which has within the seeds of destruction would have likely come out at some point (after it’s too late, I might add), so it’s good that they are presented to the sexual market place with visual signifiers of bad behavior, and probably bad genetics, namely a vastly underdeveloped and defective amygdala (R-selected leftists).
Sultan Knish - Looking back on the life of Barack Obama
After the ceremonies, the speakers, the guest musical performers and the services by an Imam, African Liberationist Minister and Reform Rabbi, Obama's funeral plane is expected to fly low over every major American city still standing, inciting riots, mass panic and all the chaos and destruction necessary for a proper sendoff to the man who destroyed America.
Jim - The total absence of a manosphere schism.
Lately a bunch of people have been complaining about a schism in the manosphere. Roosh dissed everyone except pick up artists, which upset lots of people. But Roosh’s complaint was that men without lots of experience with lots of women are poor sources of advice about women, which is trivially true. Dalrock is good as a source of truth about women, but Heartiste is better, even if you approve of Dalrock’s goals, and disapprove of Heartiste, minion of Satan.

If you care about truth, take it like a man. I knew the nature of women when I was teenage, but am a poor source of advice about women since I married very young, and stayed married, which cramped my style a little.

[...]

Oh for the double standard. When the sexual market place functioned, it was not because men were restrained, it was because women were restrained. We had, and have, a double standard for a reason, that reason being that men and women are very different.

[...]

Some non human animals are careful not to damage stuff or hurt people, some humans are not. There is significant overlap. Most non human animals need leashes. Some humans need leashes.

When the Park service was trying to design a garbage container that bears could not open, but tourists could open, they found that there is significant overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists. The same is true when it comes to civilized behavior.
I agree: Jim is pretty much the most cynical reactionary around.

Free Northerner - 1-10 scale: an analysis.
Oh, and before I begin, Truthmosis at RotK has a post up on the scale that I came across while writing this. Check it out.

I’d also like to point out that, to some degree, beauty is subjective, so a numerical scale is not the be-all-end-all of female beauty. There are certain objective metrics of beauty: a 0.7 hip-to-waist ratio, symmetry, and other such indicators of fertility and health, that (almost) all men are naturally drawn towards. These can be a basis for an “objective” 1-10 scale.

But outside of that, there are numerous subjective factors on which men disagree. For example, I really like fair-skinned, light-haired, innocent-looking women (ie. cute women) and detest tattoos and piercings. A tongue piercing disgusts me and is an automatic 3-point drop. So, if I were to rate a woman with a tongue piercing a 5, others who don’t find it disgusting, might rate that woman an 8. Another example: I’ve never figured out why the Captain likes Jennifer Aniston or many men like Angelina Jolie; never seen the appeal.

Anyway, with that caveat out of the way, here we go.
Alpha Game - Meta-ruination.
The problem is that we always know what the Strong Female Character will do and say in every situation, because at no point can weakness be shown for fear it will expose the entire fraud.  And characters who lack weakness, who lack doubt, who lack even the basic trappings of genuine humanity, are little more than tedious cardboard.
A little something extra from Spandrell: 30 year-old Singaporean woman claims to be a virgin taken seriously by the press, claims that her mainland Chinese husband is so much greater.

In the Jakarta Post, but cribbed from the local Straits Times. Usual nonsensical self-validation shit, "intelligence is sexy" (nope, not in men or women), "educated women are so much smarter than those stupid breeder cows", "women who fuck around with foreigners are so open-minded and tolerant" and "it's not the local men rejecting us, but us rejecting them, ha ha, man up."

But what is additionally interesting is that the article tries to portray this sort of relationship as not just a) good but b) commonplace in Singapore, whereas the word on the ground amongst what can only be called our local Vaisya class is that mainland Chinese are at best disliked and at worst loathed, if the Feburary and May Day protests were anything to go by. Oddly enough, by and large the local Brahmins seem to be ambivalent on this issue, probably due to Singapore being already established as a bastion of multiculturalism and tolerance according to the national identity, so one can only wonder who's at work...not. Unlike the western model, the press here is quite obviously government-controlled.

Then again, only the deluded still believe the media serve to inform the public of social trends, instead of manufacturing them.

Peering out of the Box - 14/8/13.

His Lordship's Domain - Spot the Unintended Consequences.
That is, the false assumption is that you mortals are quite capable of making wise decisions without having them imposed upon you.

[...]

Where is your "wisdom", that you brought to bear to check your race's disappearance? Where is your restraint? Where is this "common sense" that even you admit is not common? I thought you said it would emerge magically, and the world would spin on unaffected by the choices of a narrow few?

[...]
And then you wonder why I, and now my consort, doubt that your precious society can handle yet another sort of openly accepted depravity. What, indeed, could possibly go wrong?
But by all means, stone yourselves senseless. I understand that it eases the frustrations of plantation life and makes your daily toil for your masters more bearable. Indeed, prepare yourselves for your coming, inevitable fate.
Anarcho-Papist - Wizard Privilege.
The title is somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Obviously, the wizards enjoy a massive amount of privilege. But those privileges are also clearly grounded in innate differences. No one would say we want the less capable to rule. Thus, wizards rule, not goblins or centaurs. This ties into the ultimate hierarchy which takes place in wizarding society. It is also obvious that you could not find ways to increase non-wizard representation in traditionally wizard social roles without subsidizing the presence of other races in those roles and de-incentivizing the presence of wizards in those roles.
Sultan Knish - Winning the Peace.
Forget charging up a hill. Armies charge up the slippery slope of the moral high ground and they don't try to capture it from the enemy, because that would be the surest way to lose the moral high ground, instead they claim the moral high ground by refusing to try and capture it, to establish their moral claim to the moral high ground, which they can't have because they refuse to fight for it.
Free Northerner - The Omega's Guide: Martial Arts.
You have now joined Toastmasters and bought How to Win Friends and Influence People. You  have started to practice what you have read in the latter and are on your way to learning basic social interaction skills.

Now it is time to gain confidence. You will gain confidence in your social skills as you practice, but to really gain confidence you have to have something to be confident about. So this week’s task will be to start training in a martial art.
Cappy Cap - A Testament to the Value of American Women
So hear me and hear me well when I say this, and know I say this without bias, vindictiveness, or "desire" for any particular outcome:

The drop in demand for marriage is a DIRECT and OBVIOUS reflection of the declining quality and caliber of Ameirican women.

You may not "like that."

You may find that "insulting."

But I and reality really don't care.
Vox Popoli - End Raciss, Ban Clowns.
Providing every clown in the country with sensitivity training is not going to blind whites, Hispanics, and Asians to the fact that "juveniles and young adults" of some mysterious and unidentifiable race are attacking and killing whites all over the country because they hate them.  Desegregation is a complete and utter failure, and if legal segregation is not permitted, the historical solution of popular violence will be inevitable, with Hispanics leading the way.
I suspect the main reason it hasn't started yet is that the only whites dumb enough to put themselves in a position to be harmed by these feral packs of vibrant juveniles and diverse young adults of the sort pictured above tend to either be homeless or come from liberal families.
When the golden horde drags you screaming from your gated communities, SWPL folks, I hope you're alive to feel every moment as they devour you like the swarm they are. After all, it was you who sought to break the social institutions holding them in check so you could feel holier than everyone else.

Peering out of the box - 22/7/13.

Free Northerner - The real meaning of Zimmerman.
That was his crime. He cared about his community enough to try to keep it safe. He got out of the car.

And that is the whole point of this fiasco. It is the whole reason they rage against “stand your ground”. It’s the whole reason they fight gun freedom.

The Cathedral does not want you to get out of the car. The Cathedral does not want you to protect yourself or your community. The Cathedral does not want you to be able to trust your neighbours.
Vox Popoli - Behind the scenes.
It occurs to me, however, that there is one time when it would make very good sense to replace MEU commanders, and that is when new military action is at hand.  When one considers how the Syrian rebels appear to have failed in their bid to overthrow Assad and the recent army coup in Egypt, I find myself wondering if this might be an early sign of expanded American military intervention in the Middle East.
Stares at the world - The power of the shield.
The Magic of the Shield – that spell which turns a Peacekeeper into a Peace Officer – only works in a society of Civilized Men.  It only works when you have a population of Citizens who are willing and able to enforce Law and Order with their very own Peace Makers.  It only works when the Emperor Himself is but a servant to the Mandate of Heaven. It only works when the Truth isn’t just a label on a shelf of consumer goods.

Separation of Church and State was never about keeping religion out of governance – it was about keeping the magic in.  But we’ve killed the Magic, we’ve killed the Truth, we’ve killed God, and we’ve killed Reason.  With all of that gone, we are all of us Brutes – all we have left is is Brute Force.
Sultan Knish - The eagle has landed.
Like so many decrepit civilizations before us, the massive rotting edifice of our government has become our great work. Keeping it going, keeping it from falling apart, wiping its bottom, finding the money to prevent its latest imminent failure, fighting over the last folder while the barbarians shout "Allah Akbar" and put all the paper to the torch because the Koran makes it redundant, that is what we do now.

We no more go a-roving so late into the night. Not when our own night has come. And it is late indeed.

It is not that we have no more Neil Armstrongs or Eugene Cernans or any of the other clean cut men who look back at us from those old photographs, cool and confident, knowing that they are the messengers that a civilization at its golden apex has picked to represent it at its peak moment. It is that we no longer want them.
Zero Hedge - China warns of "overly limited forecasts".
In a wide-ranging interview with Xinhua, the Chinese finance minister Lou Jiwei started from the normal fantasy-land of central-planners by noting that the topic of a Chinese hard-landing "was not discussed at the G-20," because "no participant believes in the existence of that risk." Commenting on calls for the Chinese to launch new stimulus (to save the world's economy), Lou admonished the other nations, adding "I suggest they fulfill their own due work rather than counting mainly on others." He remained adamant that China is still growing and creating jobs but fears what everyone else fears: "The global market will sustain negative impact should the Fed fail to interact properly with other components of the market." In other words, "get to work, Mr. Bernanke, and don't remove the punchbowl," because as Lou notes, "some countries are overly optimistic on their outlooks."
Ice Age Now - Chinese wheat crop ruined by cold, wet.
“Crops ruined,” says Reuters. “China may become top wheat importer.”
In related news, the Guardian quotes Tesco's CEO as mentioning the end of cheap food prices is here.

Didact's Reach - On striking women.
I need to state this very plainly: I HATE training with women. In Krav Maga, one of the most important lessons that you learn is that you NEVER fight strength against strength. The point of the art is to go from defence to offence in the shortest time possible. This means that when you pair off in a class to practice releases and blocks against various forms of chokes and attacks, you need to be fully committed to defending yourself, and your partner must be fully committed to attacking you. In order for those attacks to be effective when training, though, you need to be up against someone who is roughly at the same level of training and physical strength as you are.

Peering out of the box - 10/7/13.

Vox Day - The Biggest Bubble.
For those who didn't follow, what Keen is saying is that the stock market has been one giant debt-inflated bubble since 1980.  And it means that when the change of debt goes negative, asset prices are going to contract at a speed proportional to the rate of the debt contraction.  This, of course, is why the Fed has been pumping so desperately for five years, and also why it was always doomed to eventual failure.
What I find particularly significant is that Keen has reached a very similar conclusion about the stock market that Karl Denninger and I both independently reached about the economy through a different approach, which involved calculating the dollar amount of debt required to buy one dollar of economic growth.  By any of our three methods, it readily becomes apparent that there has been no genuine economic growth in the USA since 1980, give or take a year.
We're doomed. What else can I say? Mr. Beale does a much better job than my of articulating this sense of doom that hangs around the world.

Cappy Cap - You should never have to game friends.
Understand absolutely drop-dead gorgeous women are damaged goods in a certain regard.  It isn't even necessarily their fault, but rather society's.  Since they are so good looking, the vast majority of men interact with them on a sexual basis.  They want to have sex with them, they want to be around them, they simply want to look at them.  Sadly, none of them want to be their friends and therefore truly beautiful women have few, if any, platonic or non-sexual relationships with men.  This skews their experience and mental development so far to the point that by the time they're 20, maybe 22, they're INCAPABLE of having normal, healthy, non-sexual friendships with males.
Bionic Mosquito - Libertarians and Abortion.
With this in mind, I will present the case that it is the unborn child, and not the mother, that has the right of use of the womb for the term of the pregnancy.  I base this on causation, reasonable reliance, unilateral contract, and, as Block has introduced the language of landlord and tenant, a lease and the covenant of quiet enjoyment.
If anything has come out of the evictionism debate, it is my discovery of Bionic Mosquito's thoughts on the matter, and his argument, as far as I can see it, is a) solidly based in libertarian principles and b) utterly ironclad to the wailing of popular epithets such as "my body, my choice" and "slavery". He certainly is accepting challengers to his argument, but there appear to have been none so far (save one mewling about "slavery", which he has addressed to not be the case in his argument, and another deriding his argument for being "partisan"). In theory, I agree with most libertarian prescriptions, but the problem is that they require most people be rational in their decision making, long time-oriented, and capable of handling responsibilities.

Which 90% of people are not, to varying degrees, hence some form of slavery in inverse proportion to their ability to handling freedom is required for their own good and the good of society; the underclass of which is the most egregious example. Such is the reactionary position.

And before someone accuses me placing myself in the 10% capable of full autonomy, please see below for my post on being a good follower.

Sultan Knish - Wrong side of the street.
The Zimmerman case is about many things, but it isn't about George Zimmerman, an Hispanic Obama supporter who campaigned against police brutality only to find himself plucked up by the hand of Big Brother to play the villainous white racist in the latest episode of liberal political reality television.
I'm fully expecting riots to erupt over the trial when Zimmerman walks. It would be a perfect time for martial law to be declared. Or in the case he doesn't walk, we know rule of law is gone in the US (not that it wasn't already, as Aaron Hernandaz proves.)

Zero Hedge - Radioactive Tritium At Record High Levels In Fukushima Ground- And Sea-Water
The Japan Times reports that TEPCO said Sunday that 600,000 becquerels per liter of tritium has been detected in groundwater at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant - 18% higher than levels a week earlier. Furthermore, the utility also said it had measured a seawater tritium level of 2,300 becquerels per liter - the highest so far - near the water intakes of reactors 1 to 4. So it is that in a nation already suffering from a dreadfully declining demographic dilemma, the citizens are being exposed to highly cancerous substances still.
Uh-oh. "Oh, this is bad!"

The Economic Collapse - The Decline Of Breadwinner Jobs Has Resulted In The Longest Bread Lines In American History
On Friday, we learned that the U.S. economy added "195,000 jobs" last month.  But when you look deeper at the numbers, another story emerges.  Last month, the U.S. economy actually lost 240,000 full-time jobs.  Overall, the U.S. economy has only added 130,000 full-time jobs in 2013, but it takes about 90,000 full-time jobs a month just to keep up with population growth.  So we are losing quite a bit of ground as far as full-time jobs are concerned.  Meanwhile, the U.S. economy has added more than 500,000 part-time jobs so far this year.  Unfortunately, there are very, very few part-time and temp jobs that can be considered "breadwinner jobs".

Wednesday, 3 July 2013

Peering out of the box - 3/7/13.

Vox Popoli - Teachers are Substandard.
This also serves as a fitting response to those who ask how a mother can homeschool without a degree in physics, math, or womyn's studies.  The correct answer is: why do you think your children can be adequately educated by a collection of women with a sub-normal IQs whose only education is in what is quite literally the easiest possible course of collegiate study.
Jim - Marriage, Supply and Demand.
So society tends to flip between two states, the state where males, marriage, and commitment is in high demand, and most children have fathers, and the state where most males are surplus to requirements, have no incentive to contribute to or protect society, and most children are fatherless.  Civilization only gets built in the condition where males, marriage, and commitment, are in high demand.
Nydwracu - Gay marriage isn't the problem, love is.
Romantic love cannot provide the stability necessary for a healthy marriage; but our culture holds it as the only thing that can. This must change if the institution of marriage is to survive. To ensure the health and continued existence of our society, marriage should be oriented toward establishing not formal bonds between romantic lovers, but a healthy and stable family and reproductive unit.
I have often been of the mind that modern romantic love is arguably one of the most toxic things to plague us. Romeo and Juliet was written as a cautionary tale, not a handbook.

Didact's Reach - Full throttle towards Gomorrah.
Lesbian porn might be fun to watch, but in real life, homosexuality is not "normal"- any straight man who's ever walked down Christopher Street in New York, or through SoHo in London, knows what I'm on about. It has never been accepted as normal in any human society, including ones far more tolerant of unusual sexual mores than current American society. That said, if homosexuals wish to live their lives in peace, as long as they're not bothering me, I don't particularly care who they shack up with or who they wish to spend the rest of their lives with.

What the SCOTUS did with this decision is contrary to both of these basic libertarian tenets.
Economic Collapse - 36 Hard Questions About the US Economy.
If the economy is improving, then why aren't things getting better for most average Americans?  They tell us that the unemployment rate is going down, but the percentage of Americans that are actually working is exactly the same it was three years ago.  They tell us that American families are in better financial shape now, but real disposable income is falling rapidly.  They tell us that inflation is low, but every time we go shopping at the grocery store the prices just seem to keep going up.  They tell us that the economic crisis is over, and yet poverty and government dependence continue to explode to unprecedented heights.  There seems to be a disconnect between what the government and the media are telling us and what is actually true.
Sultan Knish - The United States of Guilt.
There was once an America that built its shining cities on a hill in the name of virtue. That nation has been replaced by another nation that builds housing projects in the name of guilt. We used to elect the best men for the job, or at least we believed we did. Now we hold elections of guilt, deciding which oppressed minority has been most shamefully overlooked, before casting our vote for a more diverse and equitable society.

Peering out of the box - 24/6/2013.

Sultan Knish - The End of the World.
To understand why is to understand the purpose of environmentalism. Its harsh criticism of consumerism turns it into a moral activity. The Whole Foods shopper is elevated above the Wal-Mart shopper. The woman who buys sneakers made of recycled tires isn't shopping, she's engaged in an ethical communion with the earth. Environmentalism is the theology of consumerism, uplifting it rather than proscribing it, taking a cut of ordinary economic activities in exchange for its blessing.
As I've pointed out before, the disdain Leftism has for religion is not so much borne of any actual reason, but rather, a very common fear that as a religion itself, it'll lose converts to other religions. Keeping on the same line of thinking:

Cappy Cap - When Atheists Really Aren't Atheists.
Environmentalism is nothing more than a snooty person's religion.  Equally unfounded claims.  Equally unfounded moral superiority.  Equally deserving to get a punch in the face if they ever proselytize to you.

They may "claim" they hate religion or are "too smart for it," but just like all the other sheeple, they find something to glom onto because they lack true and genuine independent thought and individuality (see hipsters).  Just because it isn't a biblically-based religion doesn't mean it isn't one and the intellectual weakness of one to subscribe to it doesn't apply.  But when you go to the extend to create a CHURCH of atheists you are merely mocking atheists and atheism.
The Economic Collapse - The biggest ponzi scheme in the history of the world.
Uncle Sam had once been the wealthiest man on the entire planet, but now he was a broke, tired old man that was absolutely drowning in debt.  Unfortunately, once he was down on his luck the rest of the world did not have any compassion for him.  In fact, much of the rest of the world celebrated the downfall of Uncle Sam.
Mangan's - Robotopia.
We're faced with a future in which lots of people will have little value in the labor force. Farmers went from 90% of the population to less than 2% currently because of industrialization. The same forces have hit, and will hit harder, every other sector of the economy. We have our own unskilled people to take care of.
Vox Day - A Mysterious Sinking.
So, do the Russians have an attack sub called "Yet Unclear Reasons"? Or, as appears more likely, did one of those Russian crew members take a creative approach to ship's maintenance? If it is true that the MOL Comfort was carrying arms intended for the Syrian rebels, it would appear that Mr. Putin has called Mr. Obama's decision to raise the ante.
We seem to be plunging headlong into WW3.

Jim - Economic Efficiency of Slavery.
Economists find this outcome most strange, but there is no mystery to it.  When stupid people, prone to short time horizons, get to make their own decisions for themselves, they are apt to make stupid decisions.
A slave maid could not steal the silverware, because she could not own anything.  An employed maid could steal the silverware, and probably would, and would be the worse off for it.  An employed maid might well beat the baby with stick as thick as her arm because her mistress spoke sharply to her.  A slave maid would not, because her mistress could do worse.
If slaves and masters were better off than employers and employees, an economist would ask, why could they not just cut a deal to do what they previously did, only without chains and beatings, do the same tasks in the same way, only as employees?
The answer is that question is: that the former slaves, once freed, could not credibly commit to stick to such a deal, and generally did not stick to such a deal, thus economically worse off.  Stupid people, prone to violence, with short time horizons, needed masters.
Free Northerner - Sexonomics: Odds of Divorce.
I can’t calculate the exact numbers by calculating all these odds together because a lot of these positive qualities overlap, but I consider myself justified in estimating, that the type of women I plan on marrying would have a statistical likelihood of divorcing me around 10%.

A 10% chance of divorce, even a 20% chance, while still higher than I’d like, is a risk I am willing to take.
The question of a cost-benefit analysis has to be approached on both sides. Free Northerner has assessed the costs, but what are the benefits of marriage when it comes to men?

Oh, wait. Nothing of any worth.

Peering out of the box - 17/6/13.

Great old clouds of smoke have been rolling in on the island from Sumatra - the usual slash-and-burn farmers in Indonesia are being blamed yet again. It hasn't been this bad for years, though. Since I'm sensitive to smoke, the only recourse is to stay indoors as much as possible, do my running inside on a treadmill, etc, etc.

Anyways, without further ado, the weekly peering out of the box.

Vox Popoli - Rejecting the lie.
A few people, both sympathetic and otherwise, have asked me why I am willing to hold and defend such controversial and upsetting opinions as I have done of late. And providing more evidence that rabbits simply do not have the capacity to understand not-rabbits, the SFWA is absolutely rife with various theories concerning my supposed mental instability.
After all, who but a deranged lunatic would think to challenge the received wisdom of the warren's long-accepted consensus goodthink?
As it happens, the reason is fairly straightforward. If you will not stand up for the truth when pressed, you will not stand up for the Truth when persecuted.
The Economic Collapse - Rotting, Decaying And Bankrupt – If You Want To See The Future Of America Just Look At Detroit
In fact, Detroit is a perfect example of what the future of America is going to look like.  We live in a nation that is rotting, decaying, drowning in debt and racing toward insolvency.  Already there are dozens of other cities across the nation that are poverty-ridden, crime-infested hellholes just like Detroit is, and hundreds of other communities are rapidly heading in that direction.  So don't look down on Detroit.  They just got there before the rest of us.
Sultan Knish - The end of control.
A hammer exists to hammer. A hammer in the hands of a man is a tool, but a hammer that exists for its own sake is a destructive force. A bureaucracy exists to regulate to achieve a specific end, but a bureaucracy that exists for its own sake is tyranny. It seeks to control for the sake of control. It wields power for the sake of power.

It insists that its ends are moral, but as they are not achieved, the true end of control is revealed.

Socialism begins with control to achieve social ends only for control to become the end. And that leads to the end of freedom.
Zero Hedge - Entitlement America And The High Cost Of "Free"
Almost three years ago we first highlighted the real math behind the surging entitlement class that America has become. So why does a large portion of the population choose not to work when there are many jobs available? The answer is simple. If you can receive 2-3 times as much money from unemployment, disability, and/or welfare benefits (subsidized housing, food stamps, free cellphones, etc.) as you can from a temporary or part-time job, and live a life of leisure, why work? This is the ugly reality we illustrated just six months ago and the situation - amid what is apparently called a 'recovery' remains a depressingly real sign of the times. The political allure of free is so strong that an alarming number of people choose to become wards of the entitlement/welfare state rather than captain their own destiny.
Vault-Co - Leftists, Marxists, Socialists, Communists and Statists Are Damaged Goods
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "POLITICS." THERE NEVER WAS.
THERE IS ONLY BIOLOGY. THE LEFT ARE BIOLOGICALLY DAMAGED PEOPLE. They are the botched. The bungled. The busted. There is nothing to debate. Nothing left to prove on this subject with science.
Didact's Reach - Welcome to the Panopticon.
If you choose the latter course, then remember: the only logical outcome of pushing back against this country's government is eventual open armed revolution. Understand this well, and be ready for the day it happens.
Choose carefully, and choose well.

Peering out of the box - 10/6/13.

Zero Hedge - NSA Whistleblower Reveals Himself.

So...any bets on how long Snowden lasts before he decides to make toast in the bathtub, has an unfortunate car accident or just plain disappears?

Anyone?

Vox Day shares his thoughts here.

Speaking of Vox...

Vox Day - Homeschooling hits critical mass.

I predict shortly in the future that the USG will clamp down on homeschooling, if not outright attempting to make not sending your children to public school an offense like it is in Germany and here in Singapore. Can't have the kids thinking for themselves, can we?

Sultan Knish - Government is the new race.
Black history has become a commodity. It was mortgaged to the Democratic Party which turned it over to the IRS. And when history turns into a commodity, it is cut off from the flows and currents of a culture. It is reduced to an item of intellectual property to be exploited, developed and then finally discarded. In this state, it cannot grow or change. It does not reflect the soul of a people. And without it, the soul of a people grows stifled and musty. Without control over their own history, a people are unable to grow and change.
The Reactivity Place - What Hath the Kingdom of God to do with Secular Rightists?
Jim Donald goes farther than most in advocating officially state sponsored religion. Why? Because it is the natural state of a people to have a shared religion. And Official Religions, because they are official, are much more benign than Unofficial official religions such as we have today (Liberal Christianity). I make the same point in a previous post, that a religious heritage works best when it stays clear of the extremes of rigor (phariseeism) and laxity (pietism). Modern Liberal Christianity is the absolute worst aspects of both.

In case you haven’t noticed, we live in a culture now completely dominated by lies, regarding the sexes, regarding race, regarding economics, regarding politics, regarding equality, regarding health and happiness and meaning in life. Those who can see through those lies, articulate a response, and fight against them are our friends, irrespective of the divergence in our prior metaphysical commitments.
Elusive Wapiti - Cash and Prizes
This may account for some of the "cash and prizes" complaining that you hear. The fellows who dominate the manosphere are likely whiter, better educated, and have higher incomes than do the average American male. So it follows that they pay more than the average figures listed above. Plus, a median income of $29,000 for an electively divorced single mother is supplemented by benefits not available to non-custodial fathers, such as the earned income tax credit, child care deductions, lower tax bracket, extra exemptions, etc. I suspect these considerations are not factored into the "female breadwinner" analysis, and these indirect compensations not only soften the blow of choice motherhood but may also be arguably viewed as income transfers of the "cash and prizes" kind, as well.
Also notable is that the average single mother has a net effective income of 57K, which is equal to that of someone making 69K/year. Government-subsidised failure indeed, paid out of the pockets of productive citizenry.

Stares at the World - The question libertarians can't answer.

Peering out of the box - 3/6/13.

Stares at the World - Meditations Upon Psychohistory: “Whispering Leaves” by Cesar Tort, Part 1
Contrast to humans where things are utterly different.  First off is the mere length of parental-dependence; at the very minimum humans require twelve years before they’re able to function independently, and recent neurological evidence can arguably push full mental adulthood into the mid-twenties.  Not only does this extended-period provide more opportunity for error, the child-rearing in our species is so remarkably complex, (multiple stages, each requiring a different sort of input) that if any one stage is mis-performed, future neuroses result.
Sultan Knish - The extremist moderates and moderate extremists.
Around the time of the Arab Spring, reporters began describing the Muslim Brotherhood, which had a long history of terrorism and whose writings call for genocide, as moderate. The Free Syrian Army, which is dominated by the Brotherhood, is constantly described as both “moderate” and “secular”. But Hamas, which is the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza, is described as militant, rather than moderate.
There is no actual standard for what makes a Muslim group moderate. The sobriquet is a form of approval granted by Western elites to Muslim groups and figures that most people would conventionally associate with terrorism.
Vox Popoli - The new dawn rising.
There is going to be war.  In Europe, it will be the European nationalists against the globalists and their African and Muslim jannisaries.  In the USA, it is going to be a confusing affair, with shifting alliances between the Black, Brown, Red, and White Americas, with Black, Brown, and Red America serving the interests of the globalists.

Of course, to say "there is going to be war" is somewhat misleading.  The war actually began in 1965; the first invasion soon after.  This nationalist response is a belated one, and is the result of the various nations finding themselves backed into a corner from which there is no other escape.

The globalists are going to try to crack down and keep the nationalists out of power, but the resulting exposure of what has always been their anti-democratic nature is going to completely eliminate their ability to claim any moral superiority over the nationalists.
Various further warning signs as to why getting your hands on some non-perishable food and seeds would be a good idea:

*Impossible for 40% of German farmers to drive on fields due to rain, asparagus and potato crops ruined.
*Freeze cuts US southern states' blueberry crop in half, worst yield in 20 years.
*Similarly, Belgian berry crops destroyed by cold weather.
*Canadian vegetables destroyed by frost, estimated 10-30% of current tomato harvest lost.

Make sure you have enough to eat.

The Economic Collapse - 18 signs that massive economic problems are erupting all over the planet.
Unfortunately, the false prosperity that we are currently enjoying is not going to last much longer.  Just look at what is happening in Europe.  The eurozone is now in the midst of the longest recession that it has ever experienced.  Just look at what is happening over in Asia.  Economic growth in India is the lowest that it has been in a decade and the Japanese financial system is beginning to spin wildly out of control.  One of the only places on the entire planet where serious economic problems have not already erupted is in the United States, and that is only because we have "kicked the can down the road" by recklessly printing money and by borrowing money at an unprecedented rate.  Unfortunately, the "sugar high" produced by those foolish measures is starting to wear off.  We are going to experience a massive amount of economic pain along with the rest of the world - it is just a matter of time.
Zero Hedge - It's A "0.6%" World: Who Owns What Of The $223 Trillion In Global Wealth
Back in 2010 we started an annual series looking at the (re)distribution in the wealth of nations and social classes. What we found then (and what the media keeps rediscovering year after year to its great surprise) is that as a result of global central bank policy, the rich got richer, and the poor kept on getting poorer, even though as we predicted the global political powers would, at least superficially, seek to enforce policies that aimed to reverse this wealth redistribution from the poor to the rich (a doomed policy as the world's legislative powers are largely in the lobby pocket of the world's wealthiest who needless to say are less then willing to enact laws that reduce their wealth and leverage). Now that the topic of wealth distribution (or rather concentration) is once again in vogue, below we present the latest such update looking at a global portrait of household wealth. The bottom line: 29 million, or 0.6% of those with any actual assets under their name, own $87.4 trillion, or 39.3% of all global assets.

Peering out of the box - 27/5/13.

Vox Popoli - Diversity in Sweden: Sixth Night
At this point, it should be obvious that my prediction of Anders Breivik being a harbinger of things to come was, at the very least, considerably less outlandish than many believed it to be at the time.  Nor are we seeing any sort of backlash in the form of more political support for the multicultural parties across Europe.
And if the police are stupid enough to play quisling and take the side of the immigrants, as they apparently are doing in Stockholm, then they'll have to go too.
Bloody Shovel - The Rightist Singularity.
As it turns out, the optimal engine for leftism is egalitarianism. The physical properties of DNA itself mean that individuals from the same species can never be equal, so egalitarianism is necessarily unattainable. But millions of years of hunting in small bands mean half of the human brain is optimized for envy and hating those who attempt to be better than you. Actually is even worse than that, envy is hard wired deep in the brain since we were monkeys.
Nick B. Steve - The Reactionary Consensus.
  • Hierarchical social structures: Hierarchy is not only not bad, but natural and absolutely essential to the proper functioning of any social structure;
  • Sex Realism: Sex differences are real, are ordained by nature or nature’s god or both, and we ignore them at our peril;
  • Race Realism: Race and group differences are real, are ordained by nature or nature’s god or both, and we ignore them at our peril;
  • Memetic Realism (“Deep Heritage”): Traditional folkways tend to be real, i.e., non-ideological, and naturally arising adaptations to social realities, which therefore represent pretty good (at least) local solutions to very (or intractably) complex problems;
  • Economic Realism (later badly dubbed “Microeconomics” and we still await a name for the phenomenon): In any economy where an absolutely fixed supply of (properly divisible) money is deemed impossible or impractical, there is ipso facto a con game going where the issuance of money has itself become a political weapon;
  • (Hyper)Federalism: Local optima rarely scale well; subsidiarity; the right of exit must be guaranteed;
  • Social Justice: If social justice is anything at all, it is merely justice;
  • Democracy: The best and brightest of any society were ordained by nature or nature’s god or both to lead. Expansion of the franchise beyond that natural aristocracy is tragicomically foolish;
  • Politics: Defined as competition for parcels of power over unrelated others, usually as a means of redistributing wealth, politics is rightly minimized in any sane society.
Sultan Knish - The Warrior's Tale.
The tale has many variations. Sometimes there are many warriors, sometimes only a handful. They march into the village of the enemy in triumph, or they make a last stand on a rocky outcropping, spending the last of their heart's blood to buy time they will never know. There is the weak man who becomes strong, the strong man who becomes weak, the woman who mourns the man who will never return, and the man who goes off to battle with nothing to lose. These tales have been told countless times in the ages of men, and they will be told again for as long as men endure.
Cappy Cap - Strictly for da guys.
Greetings gentlemen.
The ole Captain needs your help.

I need all the guys in the Cappysphere to send me what they would like to know in terms of personal financial and economics advice or wisdom.  This is going to lay the foundation for my next project and though I have a pretty good idea of the topics I'm going to cover, I want to make sure I leave no major or significant topic unaddressed.  Things like housing, budgeting, financial planning, etc, anything in the realm of personal finance that would be of interest, benefit or curiosity to you, please list them in the comment section below.
Thumotic - The specialisation of Reaction.
We need artists and speakers and marketers to brand and proselytize our cause. We need programmers and engineers to design our weapons. We need scribes, connectors, and social hubs to manage and catalog the Dark Enlightenment. We need specialized counter-Cathedral academics, journalists, and entertainers. We are building a complete replacement for the myriad of institutions which report to the Cathedral – The USG proper, her Anglosphere and EU satellites, the Universities, Colleges, Schools, Literati, Entertainment Industry, Churches, Foundations, and even temporary counters to Dalit street gangs. The Cathedral, interpreted broadly, employs tens of millions. A successful opposition will need manpower on a comparable scale.

Peering out of the box - 20/5/13.

Cappy Cap - You're better off staying in your mother's basement and drinking than going to liberal arts college.

Sultan Knish - The end of competition.
The American Dream does not actually require a red, white and blue flag or a dream. What it requires is a willingness to accept messiness.
Messiness is another word for chaos. And no one likes chaos. Chaos means that in the richest country in the world some people will be illiterate, others will be homeless and some will accidentally set themselves on fire because the fireworks don't come with enough safety warnings.
Those aren't good things. They're not things that governments and the squeaky wheels who make governments what they are think should be tolerated. They're messy.
Stares at the World - The Right continues to be right.
So a request to all the mindless idiots who believe whatever they’re told, no matter how many times the story contradicts – kindly shut the fuck up, stop voting, and read some George Orwell.
Matt Forney - Diary of a manospambot.
My jaw damn near dropped. Omigod, a black woman who didn’t look or act like she walked out of a Tyler Perry movie? Omigod, an intact nuclear family in the year 2013? It was like seeing two unicorns rutting in a barn. My brains were blown out of my ears. I thought, “Man, I have GOT to share this with the guys on Roosh’s forum.”
Then I realized something: if they were an intact family, that means that the guy was married…
“CHUMP!” I stood up, pointing at the white guy. “BETA BETA BETA!”
The Economic Collapse - 10 charts that demonstrate the slow, agonizing death of the American worker.

Jim's Blog - Game, Dark Enlightenment, and Reaction.
If you believe that game works then:
  1. You are darkly enlightened, since you believe at least one forbidden truth about human nature.
  2. You  should logically conclude that women should never have been emancipated and never given the vote, thus logically, you should be reactionary.
DemCAD - The American culture of debt.

Peering out of the box - 13/5/13.

Sultan Knish - With blood on their hands.
Real life villains are closer to Richard III than Lady Macbeth, offering to trade their stolen kingdom for a horse to the very end, rather than seeking some intangible repentance in a fit of remorse. They are more likely to ask what difference it makes; the solipsistic query of the sociopath to whom the feelings of others are abstract things.
Benghazi simply proves that the US government is corrupt. All of it. Naturally, people will not know, or if they do know, care, because the televitz is on.

I fully expect a false flag soon to cover up Benghazi and the IRS scandal.

Stares at the World - Your democracy is an illusion.

The Economic Collapse - The price of copper and 11 other recession indicators that are flashing red.

Vox Popoli - Health Evaders and the B Ark.
Honestly, I don't see how this whole creaky system is going to survive much longer.  History shows that there is a lot of ruin in a nation, but at this rate, the entire business activity of the USA is soon going to be computers trading stocks with other computers and people filling out forms for the IRS and other government agencies.
Welcome to the B Ark economy.
The Real Singapore - I brought my girlfriend to Mustafa Centre to convince her not to have an expensive wedding.
"My girlfriend wants the same lavish wedding as it's a 'once in a lifetime', 5 star hotel blah blah blah.

"So one day, I happened to be at Mustafa Centre.

"I brought her to the electronics department and started showing her the prices of basic necessities like the washing machine, refrigerator, television and vacuum cleaner.

"I told her: Look, all these cost close to $1k each. Why waste money on a stupid wedding, only to please other people? Got flat already but no basic necessities how? Wash clothes by hand? (she cringed when she heard this)

"Immediately her perspective changed."
My money is on her dumping this fellow and moving onto a richer guy that she "deserves". And to be frank, it would be better for this guy if she did just that.

Ice Age Now - The new mini ice age is upon us.
Piers Corbyn agrees: the mini ice age has started.
In 2000, they warned us about runaway global warming.
They told us that 2010 would be the end of snow in the U.K.
Instead, the world got colder
So now they say warm is cold.
I'm more with Tex Arcane when he says that we're not just headed for a Maunder Minimum, but a Grand Minima. Time will tell.

Wrap up well, folks.

Alternative Right - The IQ of revolutions.
Considering the seriousness of the existential threat, White America should be rising up in revolution, yet it isn’t. This proves that the 100 point mark on the IQ continuum, which we can call semi-intelligence, is something of a passivity 'sweet spot.' There are two elements to this:
  1. A semi-intelligent population is rather adept at deceiving itself. It has enough smarts to construct elaborate and plausible explanations that miss the point and prognostications that defer the moment of truth. It melds enough inventiveness and gullibility together to make continuous denial relatively easy.
  2. A semi-intelligent population is also smart enough to work around and ameliorate the negative effects of serious flaws in the socio-political fabric. This is what is happening in America, as the intelligent, frugal, and hard-working portion of the population take up the load of the increasingly large and dysfunctional underclass. In a lower IQ society, this balancing act would already be breaking down.
Revolutions have many factors, but a lot of these other factors are in fact tied to IQ. IQ is therefore one of the most important factors leading to revolution. The question then arises of where is the optimum revolutionary IQ level at which a flawed state can be expected to undergo a much needed revolution.

Peering out of the box - 3/5/13.

Sultan Knish - "The Golden Apple", a socialist fairy tale.
"Fortunately this is only a fairy tale that could never ever happen in real life. Still it might be worth remembering that when you kill the golden apple of the free market, all that's left are moldy pears. And that "Fruit for Everyone" usually means "Fruit for No One"."
Vox Day - Speaking out vs. shooting.
"There will be war, whether anyone truly desires it or not. There has always been war and there always will be war, the arrogant pretenses of the totalitarians and their self-serving promises of peace on Earth notwithstanding. As Vegetius wrote: Si vis pacem, para bellum.  The Union cannot be saved because it no longer exists in the hearts of men."
Free Northerner - Men need responsibility and reward.
"Demanding they man up is pointless. Demanding they feed themselves into the grinder is both sadistic and pointless. Making them accountable without giving them power is cruel and pointless, as is punishing failure, but not rewarding success.

Give men responsibility, then demand they be responsible, and let them know they will receive the natural rewards and/or penalties for their care of their area of responsibility, and you will get the men you want."
Hawaiian Libertarian - The F YOU fund.
"Boiled down to it's essence, the F YOU fund is nothing more than realizing that you need to order your life so that you are not in a position to be forced to do something....or do anything you don't want to out of a position of fear."
Economic Collapse Blog - 22 facts that prove the bottom 90% of Americans are getting poorer.
The mainstream media is not telling you this, but the truth is that most Americans are steadily getting poorer.  The middle class is being absolutely eviscerated, and poverty is soaring to unprecedented heights.
Zero Hedge - Middle-aged suicide rates soar.
During the 11-year period studied, suicide went from the eighth leading cause of death among middle-aged Americans to the fourth, behind cancer, heart disease and accidents. Today's payrolls data will do little to lift the spirits of the middle-aged worker; we live in cruel and unusual times.
DEMCAD - Things to consider for your urban bug-out bag.

Apocalypse Cometh - It should never have gotten to this point.
"It should have never have gotten to this point. I sit in my farmhouse loading ten thirty round magazines for an AR15 hoping that I’ll never have to use it but knowing that in the near future that I will regardless of my choice. I’m loading 16 round S&W pistol mags knowing that in the very near future that what I do today is going to save my life tomorrow. Burying seeds in mylar bags and pvc pipe knowing that I’ll eventually have to grow my own food. Buying every round of ammunition even if I don’t have a gun to shoot it because I know people that have guns that shoot them and they will trade gas, food or guns for things they can’t get. It’s gotten to this point and if you don’t know it, I feel sorry for you."

Peering out of the box - 22/4/13

Cappy Cap - Where's the feminist self-improvement counterpart?
And while the two examples above focus on physic fitness and health, if you step back and cast a wider net, you'll realize The Manosphere, as well as various economics blogs, follow a similar parallel. Namely one of self-improvement. Men trying to improve their chances with women. Men trying to advance their careers and financial success. Men (and women) trying to start businesses. And men and women trying to aim for happier, better lives. They are constantly asking "what can I do to improve myself."
I have a simple question.

Where is the feminist equivalent of this?
Economic Collapse Blog - Whenever a tragedy happens, they take more freedom from us
No matter how much money we spend, there is no way that the federal government will ever be able to provide enough security for all of those soft targets. Even if our society morphed into something that resembled George Orwell's "1984", the government would still never be able to guarantee our safety. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of this attack there will inevitably be calls for "increased security" and "more anti-terror legislation". The answer always seems to be to expand the emerging police state.
Vox Popoli - So much to learn
It is easy to say, well, we'll keep the Western strictures against widow-strangling, witch-burning, and academic-raping, we'll just toss the ones against homosexual-marrying, public fornication, polygamy, and letting children play with loaded guns... wait a minute! The brutal reality is that a society in which most children are "allowed to make their own choices and follow their own interests" is a society where the values, and the resulting societal strictures, will eventually be decided by those semi-feral children and not their overly permissive parents.
What has long been decried by the civilized Christian West as "the cowardly act of animals" – how very raciss and judgmental – may well become the next "new normal". No one should be so foolish as to believe that behavioral change on a societal level is either predestined or readily controlled by government bureaucracy.
Stares at the World - Sunday Sermon.
Nonetheless it is a beautifully written piece of fiction.  You don’t need to be a Catholic to appreciate this, you just need to be a real Man.  It’s chock full of True Grit, of real masculinity crushing a simpering rabbit person.  This is how you deal with their ilk – state the Truth bluntly and politely.  They’re going to call you a demon no matter what you do or say – but speaking to them like a Truly Civilized Man, unafraid of the consequences, sends their mind into a death spiral.
Dr. Faust - Bane in The Dark Knight Rises said it best.
Technological progress masks social decay. While gun wounds have increased gun murders has decreased and the progressives celebrate their victory of marching ever leftwards to utopia. There is no social progress. There is only the advance of technology which may hasten social decay.

The technological singularity is not a given. The rate of advance of computers is not a static thing. Kurzweil's calculations tend to gloss over the most important element of building a machine, the person operating it. It's been said that we cannot see the future because of the present.

The west has a fascination with the noble savage that has become suicidal. Avatar, The Last Samurai, Dances With Wolves, multiculturalism are all related, have all fueled the suicide of the west as it has turned in fratricide against the white fathers who built it from wood and rock.
Free Northerner - Go big or go home.
Therefore, when pursuing relationships, you should have a clear goal of what you want out of the relationship and how it will help you achieve your mission. Plan out what you want.

If your goal is a family and a committed relationship, then find the right girl, seal the deal, and get married. Do it purposefully; do it right. Don’t fall into a long-term relationship half accidently, then move in together and/or get married after a few years because that’s how things go. Plan it out.

If your goal is hedonism and avoiding commitment, do it right; be a player, start gaming, and have the wildest ride you can. Don’t limit your hedonism to a “safe”, mediocre LTR.

My problem with LTR’s is that they are not succeeding at serving any particular mission all that well. It is a mediocre half-solution that seems to simply try to fill a gap in life without any particular greater purpose behind it.

Essentially go big or go home.
DEMCAD - The first sign of trouble.

Monday, 15 April 2013

Peering out of the box - 15/4/2013.

Free Northerner - Dating and verbalisation.
The modern woman (at least until she’s hit the wall and is desperate) does not choose a mate for such practical reasons as reliability, provision, protection, fatherhood potential, etc. She has a surrogate husband, the state, to take care of all those things for her.
Instead, what she is looking for is “chemistry.” By chemistry, she means she is sexually and emotionally excited by you. But the modern woman can’t call “chemistry” by its real name, sexual attraction, because sexual attraction is what shallow guys who are only after immature, big-titted sluts rather than mature, ‘real women’ feel. She’s not shallow, she’s looking for “chemistry”, which is much deeper than looking for some young, perky slut.
Vox Popoli - The coming war in science fiction.
So leave them to their fate.  Let the rabbits panic as books prices continue to decline, their royalties continue to fall and their publishers stop paying advances before finally going the way of Borders and Night Shade Books. Let them learn if they are able to compete on a playing field that is not heavily tilted in their favor by like-minded ideologues. Let the obese, unhealthy moral degenerates struggle to pay for the increased costs of their health care under the Obamacare regime for which they clamored.

It's not our fault. It's not our concern. And it's not our problem. The gatekeepers are failing, the gates are swinging open, and the right-wing horde is rapidly approaching the citadel. It won't be long before the sneering writers of SF/F cease their endless snarking and start crying out for mercy.
As someone who previously attempted to break into SF/F and has to deal with the gatekeepers, because anything other than the traditional route was heavily touted as a Bad Thing(TM), I can empathise.

Sultan Knish - Violence on their behalf.
The issue isn't as simple as Pro-Choice. Abortion is just the conclusion of the sordid package of social liberalism. The package begins with sex ed, complete with the obligatory LGBT mentions, runs through national STD infestations, hookup culture, single parenthood and packs of young men and women recreating the mistakes of the parents they never had and then flushing those mistakes down the toilet before settling down with three kids, by different fathers who are never around, and a package of subsidies from the welfare state administered by social workers who have seen it all.
And Daniel Greenfield hits one out of the park again with his comment on the Gosnell case. Pro-lifers are not going to win, not while this society stands. What they are fighting against is only a manifestation of a deeper societal rot, which by now is too far spread for anything to be done other than to burn it all and rebuild from the ashes. And from the looks of global economy, society and climate, that day is fast approaching.

And for another hot-button issue today:

Jack Donovan - Gay marriage: "what-the-fuck-ever"
The simple fact is that gay marriage IS going to happen in the United States.

It’s not going to happen because it is good or rational. It’s going to happen because it really doesn’t matter, and it makes people feel good. Gay marriage is a good distraction, something silly and fun that Americans can agree to agree on even as social fractures widen over issues that do matter – like gun control, immigration, foreign policy and what to do about widespread economic and political corruption. It’s an issue that the progressive puppet media can congratulate Americans for coming ‘round on – as Time recently did. Americans want to feel like their opinion matters, and siding with a change that seems to be inevitable empowers them. Americans want to be on “the winning side of history,” a desire as cynical as it sounds.

[...]

No, go ahead and throw one more shit-stained rubber in the landfill. Maybe that will be the one. Or maybe it won’t. I don’t care anymore if gays get married in this society, because what I am really looking forward to is this society’s collapse. I want to see their Candyland, upside-down rainbow dyke future destroyed.

Please. Somebody…
Mr. Donovan is a homosexual, who is, contrary to what the MSM would have you believe, is not synonymous with "faggot". Because there are some of them who love men for being manly, and not some limp-wristed faggot; as Nationalist Pony points out, fascism and homosexuality actually got on quite well.

Sunshine Mary is back!

Nationalist Pony - Discord, Celestia, Pinkie, Gender and Paradox.
More to the point: Celestia simply is - she did not become Celestia, she simply happened as a cosmic ultra-pony. By contrast, Discord has to become, he is loved and reviled for his masculinity, and the nature of man is such that he must ascend, create, destroy, or in some other way affect the world. Discord may be the Lord of Chaos, but he had to become the Lord of Chaos. It is not by accident or cliche his first real act is to install himself on the throne:

In a world where hierarchy is simply the expression of inner capability, man is lost without a military to command, a foe to defeat, a frontier to conquer. Men may build civilisation through ingenuity and strength, much like Flim and Flam and their modern world, but it is women who are vanguard of family and stability. Again, it is not by accident that Appleloosa - A frontier town at conflict with a competing specie - is characterised by male characters.
It is no wonder that Discord wishes to smash Equestria to pieces and remake it in his own design - He’s a man with no family, no purpose, and no cutiemark to aspire to fulfil; he’s the avatar of unrelenting, aimless masculine force. He recognises that his existence is a cosmic joke, and so makes a joke of the world - Note the flying pigs and sense of dark humour.
Zero Hedge - China takes another stab at the dollar.
One more domino in the dollar reserve supremacy regime falls. Following the announcement two weeks ago that "Australia And China will Enable Direct Currency Convertibility", which in turn was the culmination of two years of Yuan internationalization efforts as summarized by the following: "World's Second (China) And Third Largest (Japan) Economies To Bypass Dollar, Engage In Direct Currency Trade", "China, Russia Drop Dollar In Bilateral Trade", "China And Iran To Bypass Dollar, Plan Oil Barter System", "India and Japan sign new $15bn currency swap agreement", "Iran, Russia Replace Dollar With Rial, Ruble in Trade, Fars Says", "India Joins Asian Dollar Exclusion Zone, Will Transact With Iran In Rupees", and "The USD Trap Is Closing: Dollar Exclusion Zone Crosses The Pacific As Brazil Signs China Currency Swap", China has now launched yet another feeler to see what the apetite toward its currency is, this time in the heart of the Eurozone: Paris.
Ooh, this can not be good for the ZOGBUX.
